Shipping Policy
Dorr Lobster Co., Inc. ships perishable seafood products with care and urgency to ensure quality and freshness. Please review this Shipping Policy carefully before placing an order.
Shipping Methods & Processing
Perisihable Products
All perishable products are shipped via UPS Next Day Air on perishable items. Non perishable items will be shipped USPS or UPS Ground on next shipping date. Orders will ship on the next available shipping day.
· Orders placed Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be shipped Monday.
· Orders placed Monday will be shipped Tuesday.
· Orders placed Tuesday will be shipped Wednesday.
· Orders placed Wednesday will be shipped Thursday.
Orders are carefully packed and prepared for shipment on the scheduled ship date. Once an order leaves our facility, a tracking number will be generated and emailed to the customer. Tracking information may not be immediately active and typically becomes available once the carrier has picked up the package, usually by 6:00 p.m. EST on the day of shipment.
Estimated delivery times are provided as a convenience and are not guaranteed. End-of-day delivery may occur as late as 10:00 p.m. local time.
Non-Perishable Items
All non perishable items will we set in a separate package with a small shipping fee of $19.99. Items will be shipped USPS mail. Please note if you see a shipping fee when perishable and non perishable products are in cart it is due to fee for shipping non perishable items.
Recipient Responsibility
It is the responsibility of the customer or recipient to be available to receive the shipment on delivery date and to retrieve and properly store the package immediately upon delivery.
All shipments are sent with a shipper release, meaning no signature is required unless the carrier determines otherwise. Packages may be left at a safe location at the delivery address.
Dorr Lobster Co., Inc. is not responsible for packages once they are marked as delivered, including packages left unattended, stolen, or improperly stored.
Refused, denied, or unaccepted deliveries forfeit all refund or reshipment eligibility, including cases of late delivery, damaged packaging, or spoiled products.
Address Accuracy & Validation
Orders ship to the address provided at checkout. Customers are responsible for ensuring the address is complete and accurate, including:
- Full name
- Street address and unit or suite number
- Gate or access codes (if applicable)
- Valid phone number and email address
Orders shipped to incorrect, incomplete, or undeliverable addresses — including closed businesses — are not eligible for refund or reshipment. Address changes requested after packaging may incur additional fees and may delay delivery.
Post Office Boxes are not eligible for delivery.
Signature Requirements
Residential deliveries generally do not require a signature. Business addresses may require a signature at the carrier’s discretion. If a carrier determines a location is unsafe, the package may be held at a local facility for pickup with valid identification.
Shipping Protection
Shipping Protection is included at no additional cost on all orders and covers carrier-related delays or transit issues such as sorting errors, mechanical malfunctions, or flight delays.
Weather-related delays and other events beyond carrier control are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Resolution may include a replacement, refund, or store credit at the discretion of Dorr Lobster Co., Inc.
Delayed or Damaged Shipments
Once a shipment is in the possession of the carrier, Dorr Lobster Co., Inc. is not responsible for transit delays or damage. Customers must report damaged or delayed shipments promptly and in accordance with our Refund Policy.
All packaging and contents must be retained for potential carrier inspection.
Frozen & Perishable Products
Orders containing both fresh and frozen products may experience partial thawing during transit. Partial thawing is expected. According to FDA guidelines, seafood that remains below 40°F internally and cool to the touch externally may be safely refrozen or used immediately.
Shipping Restrictions
Certain shipping restrictions apply due to legal or carrier limitations:
- Alaska & Hawaii: Some areas may not be serviceable or may require additional permits
- New York, New Jersey, Connecticut: Live lobsters under 1 lb cannot be shipped
- Maine: Oversized lobsters may not be shippable within state lines
- Puerto Rico & military bases: Overnight shipping is not available
Holidays
There is no shipping or delivery on:
- July 4
- December 25
- January 1
Order Modifications & Cancellations
Orders may be canceled or modified prior to the shipment date by contacting us directly at orders@dorrlobster.com . Additional fees may apply for order changes.
During peak periods, cancellations may not be permitted on the shipment date. Approved cancellations may be subject to processing fees.
Tracking Information
After you place your order, a tracking number will be generated on the ship date by our carrier and sent to you via email. This tracking number can be used to review the status of your shipment in transit; however, this tracking number will not be valid until the shipment is picked up from our facility at 6 pm EST. Orders can be tracked with tracking number provide in an email and tracked at UPS.com.
